Teaching resources for KS2 and KS3 inspired by the Hackney-based British Reggae Artists Famine Appeal (BRAFA) team’s charity single Let’s Make Africa Green Again which was released in 1985.
These cross-curriculum classroom resources have been developed by Hackney Museum in collaboration with Hackney Music Service and music educator Tolu McCarthy. These resources tell the story of BRAFA and encourage pupils to write their own campaign song. Using local history as a lens to support learning and skills development with links to geography, PSHE, art & design, literacy and music. The resources have been designed to be used flexibly: do the whole unit or just part of it, listen to British reggae songs or use the assembly slides.
