A Journey through Hackney’s African and Caribbean History

This film, presented by spoken word artist Bad Lay-Dee, gives a broad overview of African and Caribbean history in the local area, from 400 years ago up to and including the amplification of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

These notes for teachers were designed to accompany the film. It includes links for further research, extracts of Bad Lay-Dee’s spoken word poems and suggested questions to ask the class.
