What were working conditions like in Victorian Hackney?
This session focuses on the Matchgirls’ Strike of 1888, which took place in nearby Bow. Pupils will follow in the footsteps of the Matchgirls by making their own match boxes and putting on their own strike in the museum.
What Hackney teachers have said:
“The structure made sure that the children were engaged. The content was brilliant, thoughtful and allowed the children to engage in great historical talk. The children loved making their own matchboxes and striking! It was a really fun and informative session.”
